Summary of 3d Pen Companies:
3d Printing pens use plastic filament allowing you to draw with melted plastic which hardens quickly giving you the ability to draw up into the air! There seem to be more and more 3d printing pens every day. Given this I thought I’d break it down for you guys…
3doodler (1.0 and 2.0)
First Company to release a 3d printing pen: Money raised on Kickstarter. The pen was a huge success however the plastic refills are very expensive
Also they have a nozzle set which allows you to change the tip used on the pen.
If your interested in buying one you can get them here!:
Scribbler 3d Pens (Version 1, Version 2 and Version 3)
These pens added new cool features, made the plastic dispense faster, and allowed pens to use very cheap plastic (4+ times cheaper)
-V1 Limited features but works very well, rarely jams. dispenses plastic faster than the 3doodler, more speed options, faster load and unload, smaller design.
-V2 which added some cool features such as a display, temperature reading, auto sleep.
-V3 has a new slimmer design with even more additional features (LCD display, temperature control, and click to change speed (6 speed)
Note that Many companies re-brand and sell these Stereoscopic pens
-Scribbler now sells this pen globally
-About 15 other companies sell this pen under different brand names and for different prices (mostly out of china) however only one of them offers return policies and a 180 day warranty: Scribbler. Because of this we decided to work with and recommend Scribbler pens

My Recommendation (for plastic pens):
Buy V1, V2, or V3 from Scribbler (US, Asia, Europe, & All other countries): REMEMBER to use the $30 off Coupon Code = “Rainbow”
Unbranded 3d printing pens:
I used to recommend buying an unbranded version from a Chinese company if you’re located in Asia or Europe but several of my viewers have had issues with them (huge delays, wrong product shipped, wrong plug, no returns, etc)…

Where can I buy 1.75mm Plastic!?
Click here to buy Lots of plastic in different colors (12 standard rolls in different colors for $19) Ships fast to US
Cost of Plastic: 3mm vs 1.75mm (Doing the Math!)
3doodler uses 3mm plastic where the Scribbler Pen uses 1.75mm
First we calculate the area of a each size using this online tool:
3mm area = (A=πr^2=π·1.5^2≈7.06858) = 7.07 area in mm
1.75mm area = (A=πr^2=π·0.88^2≈2.40528)= 2.41 area in mm
1.75mm plastic is 34.09% of the area of the 3doodler 3mm plastic
What do we get for $15
3doodler:
1.5 packs of 3mm plastic for about $14.98
1.5 packs of 3doodler = ((37.5 strands, 10in each)/feet): 31.25ft
31.25ft X 7.07 area mm = 220.94 square mm area
Accounting for cost: 220.94 / $14.98 = 14.75mm area per dollar
Scribbler 3d Pen:
5 rolls of 1.75mm plastic for $14.90
5 packs of scribbler plastic = ((55 circles X 5 rolls X 17.5 in per circle) / feet): 401.04ft
401.04ft X 2.41 area mm = 966.51 square mm area
Accounting for cost: 966.51 / $14.90 = 64.87 area per dollar
3doodler vs Scribbler 3d Pen:
64.87mm area per dollar / 14.75 area per dollar = 4.4
What does this Mean?
You get over 4.4 times more 1.75mm plastic then 3mm plastic for the same price
So to match the size of 5 rolls of 1.75mm plastic ($14.90) you’d need to buy ($65.88) of 3doodler 3mm plastic
